Portrait of a popular Sun City Grand Floor Plan... the Borgata - Why is it so popular? One of the most popular models for Del Webb/Pulte was arguably the Sun City Grand Borgata floor plan. What makes it so popular? Think Goldilock's and the Three Bears. At around 1850 s.f. it's not too big, it's not too small... it's just right. That and the fact it is a split bedroom plan giving your guests (and yourselves) some privacy from each other.
The original design (at least here in Arizona) started out in one of the last phases of Sun City West as the Prescott floor plan. The days of having a separate living/dining/family room were on their way out and the "great room" concept was becoming more and more popular.
Once Del Webb moved across the US-60 to break ground in Sun City Grand the Prescott was renamed AND re-introduced as the Palo Verde floor plan. As is the case with most popular designs, there was room for improvement. While some buyers liked the extra entrance into the breakfast nook from the entry, many didn't like the way it cut down on the kitchen counter space. In the Borgata Del Webb eliminated the second entrance to the kitchen and expanded the counters, while also making changes to the master bath and utility room.
The popularity of this plan didn't stop there though. Del Webb/Pulte expanded it to just under 2100 s.f. and took it to Corte Bella as the Encanto model. You can also see it as the Sun City Festival Destiny floor plan. I tend to think of the Corte Bella & Sun City Festival versions as a Borgata on steroids. Emphasis was put on enhancing the kitchen and great room, although every area of these models has "improved". The kitchen island, extra counter space and expanded breakfast nooks make these homes a cooks/entertainers delight.
